Our projects

Currently, several fashion trends stand out: imitation of natural marble and stone surfaces. Each of them is interesting in its own way, but regardless of the choice of finishing tiles, the most important thing to take care of before purchasing is finding a contractor to carry out the tiling work.

After all, no matter how beautiful the coating is, without high-quality installation it will quickly cease to please the eye and begin to cause all sorts of problems.

Ceramic tiles
Ceramic tiles or porcelain tiles

Ceramic tiles were invented by the inhabitants of Ancient Mesopotamia. They laid out ornaments on the walls made of brick, covered with a layer of colored glaze - primitive tiles. Since its invention, tiles have changed, becoming thinner, stronger, and more varied. And about a century ago, a serious competitor appeared - porcelain stoneware. Its properties are practically the same, which gave rise to the problem of choice - tiles or porcelain stoneware?

Porcelain tiles are produced by pressing from clay, sand and minerals, just like ceramic tiles. Only the power of the press is 2–3 times higher, as is the firing temperature. Porcelain stoneware slabs are denser, non-porous, textured.

Porcelain tiles are heavy. It is not suitable for laying out a light pedestal or bathroom screen. But unpolished porcelain stoneware floors are non-slip, although cool.

Porcelain tiles are preferred over tiles when the following is important:

  • impact strength and load resistance - the material is ideal for high-traffic areas, and a dropped enameled bucket of water will not even scratch it;
  • low water absorption - the boards are non-porous and do not absorb moisture, which provides natural protection against hydrophilic fungi and microbes;
  • resistance to temperature changes - the coating will not crack, even if you heat it up and immediately put it in the freezer.

What is the difference between porcelain stoneware and tiles?

Porcelain tiles are painted to the full depth, tiles are glazed. Hence the centuries-long color stability of porcelain stoneware, although tiles have a greater variety of shades.

Tile with a non-slip surface costs no less than unpolished porcelain stoneware. Only it usually looks brighter and can be decorated with a pattern.

How to choose tiles for the bathroom and toilet

Tiles for walls and floors

The products are produced for walls and floors; the latter are thicker, as they are designed for higher loads.

On glossy solutions, stains are almost invisible, they are easy to clean, but are very slippery, which can lead to injuries when laid on the floor. Matte tiles require more intensive cleaning, but despite this, it is better to use them as floor tiles, since it is more difficult to slip on them.

Tiles with a corrugated surface are used, as a rule, only for walls. There is no need for extra unevenness on the floor, because plumbing fixtures and furniture will be installed on it.

Colors and shades

The use of light shades in the design of the bathroom will solve the problem of the need for more intense lighting and visually increase it.

Different but compatible colors make it possible to zone the bathroom area. For example, compositions with sand, beige and pastel shades go well with white plumbing fixtures and furniture. Material of darker colors is usually glued to the bottom of the walls, which can be duplicated on the floor or slightly different from it. The downside is that drops of water on dark-colored tiles will leave more noticeable marks.

It is recommended to purchase products from the same batch, otherwise the color of the tiles may differ slightly.

Classes of tile coating according to abrasion resistance

PEI I - first class. Materials in this category are intended for rooms with a stable temperature, minimal traffic and no contact with outdoor shoes. Suitable for bathrooms and toilets in residential areas.

PEI II - second class. The endurance characteristics of the products are somewhat lower than those of the first class, but they are quite suitable for apartment bathrooms.
